DIY Solar Power Project – Power Lighting, Auto Gate, CCTV and Alarm

Our customer do it yourself solar power some housing lighting, auto gate, CCTV and alarm. We all know that outfitting a house with solar panels is not cheap right now. Harnessing enough sun to be able to live completely off-grid costs many thousands of dollars, up to many tens of thousands depending on how much electricity is needed. But do we really need to go from 0% to 100% clean energy in one go? That’s not usually the way things are done; we usually do incremental changes. The idealist will say that it’s not fast enough (and might be right), but the realist will say that the mainstream has more chances of going for it if it’s not too radical and expensive, and that the power of numbers is hard to deny. So the question is: Do we really need to go 100% solar at once? What is the least you could pay and still end up with enough solar juice to run some things around the house? Hence this Do it Yourself (DIY) kit were created for you to begin with. Start small and grow large later!

DIY Forced Air “Coroplast” solar panel

This is a solar panel that I built from recycled materials (2×6 DF frame and glass). The 7/16″ OSB on the back, 3″ ABS pipe, fittings, glue and thermometer and screws where purchased for around $90.00. The panel took two weekends to complete. During the one hour testing period, the panel produced between a 42 to 49 degree increase of temp at the return port of the panel. This temp increase includes the 7 degree increase of temp from the 6.25 hp Shop Vac used in the test.

save/make money with solar DIY?

I get the part of the solar panel, but the wiring of components gets me down. I don’t want an independent circuit, i want the energy to go directly into the house to save on energy.
I want to know what component/s to use and how it works, because i don’t want to be completely clueless. I have been in an electrical course so i understand well, but my memory is not at is best.

i ask this question because the parts are all there to buy, but most don’t explain what they do or how they do it. I want to be able to make an educated dessication on what to use.

A DIY will probably not save or make the money you hope for. There are scam guides on the internet that say you can make your own panel, but that sort of panel is not only expensive for the power it produces, it will generally be illegal to connect to your house wiring. Most places require compliance to the National Electrical Code, and that means that the components you use must have UL or a similar safety rating. No homemade panel will have UL.

It is possible to install your own commercially made panels in some places. In some states, this will invalidate your rebate. In some countries (Australia), a self-install is outright illegal. If you want to see what we did in terms of self-install, our page is at http://www.angelfire.com/ca2/roderick/solar/photovoltaic.html – go to the bottom and click on the video.

DIY Homemade 12V to 48V DC-DC Converter Solar Panel Battery Electric Bike eBike Charger PC Board

This circuit converts 12V DC from solar panel and battery storage system and produces 48V DC (60V) to charger the battery pack in my DAYMAK Austin electric bike. Faster charge than OEM charger. Great for someone driving an RV from campground to campground with an e bike on the back for short trips once they get to their destination. This circuit will keep the batteries fully charged and ready to go. You can also use this with a 12V battery charger charger if you original charger has given up the ghost. Or you could have a solar panel charge a battery during the day and use the energy stored to charge your electric bicycle or EV for “free” at night. Automatic circuit switches to trickle charging after battery is completely fast charged.

Hi, can anyone give me more information on diy solar power and other alternative power sources?

I stay in an informal settlement and we don’t have any electicity so I am looking for alternatives

What about bicycle power? I myself have been looking into creating a bike powered alternative, because i just stayed at a camp where they had that very thing and they powered a whole music stage with it! Iv found plans online for how to make your own and it doesnt look that hard. Me and my friends are going to be attempting to make one. I shall try and give you the links for some of the places i was looking…
